We had an enquiry from a customer who had difficulty opening the lead door and the external was not sealed by the builder.
The Problem
The doors were triple glazed, and should have been toe and heeled with the correct packers.
We removed the glass to find the builder had not used the correct packers. The glass should be supported fully by the packers, unfortunately this was not the case.
The small packers had been crushed by the weight of the glass. The glass has moved and is now stepped.
When the glass moves this can break the seal which means the unit can mist up.
So many jobs we attend have not had the glass fitted correctly (toe and heel).
The Outcome
We refitted the glass correctly so the door was not scraping.
We sealed the frame externally and fitted a trim.
The customer was pleased with how the door now works and the finish of the external.
